I’m Salim Abu Haniffa—a writer, husband, and father of three. I write from lived experience, not polished success. My work explores failure, ambition, faith, responsibility, and the quiet moments when the stories we’ve relied on stop working.
Before writing, I moved through a string of unglamorous roles—waiter, teacher, condom supplier, and more—doing what was necessary to stay afloat, pay debts, and keep moving forward. Those years, along with layoffs, relationship strain, and personal reckoning, shaped the questions I write about today.
What Makes My Work Different?
I don’t write motivation or blueprints for success. I write for people who feel something is off—even when life looks fine on the outside.
- Progress often begins with restraint. Not more effort, but fewer illusions.
- Identity can become a trap. What once helped us survive can quietly limit who we become.
- Discomfort is not a flaw. It’s usually the signal that something honest is happening.
- Willpower isn’t enough. A coherent life requires clarity, not just discipline.
This work is for people willing to slow down, question themselves, and sit with uncertainty long enough for something truer to emerge.
Where to Start
The best place to begin is my free weekly newsletter, Strip This.
Each week, I share a short reflection, a question that lingers, and a small act of courage—designed to help you strip life down to what actually matters.
